The AEA KU5A Supercardioid Ribbon Microphone is the most recent ribbon microphone in the AEA's arsenal after more than half a decade of innovation. This revolutionary microphone can deliver the audio spectrum in detail for both live sound and studio recording.
The KU5A is a sophisticated and cutting-edge microphone that advances ribbon mic technology. The KU5A is incredibly adaptable due to its supercardioid polar pattern design. It can reject background noise from the concert stage as well as reflections from studio walls. The concentrated pattern also lessens unwanted instrument bleed in both settings.
The internal acoustic shielding of the KU5A is the most thorough of any mic that AEA supplies, and the configurable high pass filter helps tame those unwanted lows. Vocalists can sing directly into the grille without worrying about proximity effect or blowing out the ribbon. The traditional ribbon tone that you expect from an AEA microphone is wonderfully balanced with the extended high end.
The KU5A has a robust design and active electronics that work well with a variety of preamps, making it perfectly at home on the road or in the studio. Put it in front of vocalists, brass players, snare drums, and guitar cabs. The KU5A can handle them all and then some. The KU5A is unlike any other ribbon mic produced by AEA or anyone else; it is designed to give clarity and depth in every circumstance.

I now own 4 different AEA mics, and they truly never disappoint. Their build and sound quality are absolutely amazing, whether it's for vocals or acoustic guitar.
I've found a good ribbon for my home studio. This mic is the most sturdy ribbon I've tried so far, and it sounds smooth and clear. Very satisfied!
Awesome Ribbon from AEA
I just got my mic today and I'm already in love with it! I'm blown away by how it sounds on both vocals and acoustic guitar. I highly recommend this, thank you AEA!
Fantastic for Voiceovers
When it comes to radio and voiceover, ribbon mics are definitely the best option. I've had nothing but great experiences with AEA in the past, and their KU5A is fantastic. The warmth of my voice comes through just how I like it, and it's very easy to work the different loud vs. quiet deliveries of any animated script. Far better than using condensers, trust me.
Overall It's Good
I really like the mic, the sound is great, but it was a bit too direct for my needs. I didn't like how it sounded with my instruments, but I can see this mic being awesome for voice actors or podcasters. The isolation is great, gets rid of all outside sounds and noise.
